December was about making Joiyin feel polished. We focused on performance, refined the user experience, fixed bugs, and made progress on features you’ve been asking for. Building on November’s trust-focused updates, here’s what’s new.

Performance Improvements: Faster, Smoother, Better

We spent significant time optimizing the app’s performance this month.

What’s faster:

  • Activity loading – Activities now load 40% faster, especially when browsing the map
  • Map interactions – Panning and zooming feel smoother, with better handling of large activity clusters
  • Notification delivery – Notifications arrive faster and more reliably

Noticeable on slower connections and older devices.

UX Refinements: The Little Things That Add Up

Small changes that make a big difference.

What’s improved:

  • Activity creation flow – Streamlined the process with better placeholders and clearer guidance
  • Search and filters – More intuitive filtering options, with saved preferences that persist between sessions
  • Profile editing – Cleaner interface for updating your bio and preferences
  • Activity details – Better information hierarchy, making it easier to see what matters most
  • Error messages – More helpful, actionable error messages when something goes wrong

Less friction when you’re trying to find an activity and go.

Bug Fixes and Stability

We fixed dozens of bugs reported by the community this month.

What we fixed:

  • Resolved issues with activity notifications not appearing consistently
  • Fixed map markers sometimes disappearing when zooming
  • Corrected trust score calculations in edge cases
  • Resolved crashes related to rapid activity browsing
  • Fixed QR code scanning issues on some Android devices
  • Corrected timezone handling for activities across different regions

Reliability matters when you’re counting on showing up somewhere.

Joiys Payments: Progress Update

We’ve been making steady progress on Joiys payments. Here’s where we are:

Web payments (in progress):

  • Stripe integration is nearly complete
  • Testing payment flows and error handling
  • Building the purchase interface

Mobile in-app purchases:

  • Preparing for App Store and Google Play submission
  • Finalizing pricing tiers and bundles
  • Completing compliance requirements

What this means: Once approved, you’ll be able to purchase Joiys directly to boost activities and support great organizers. We’re aiming for early 2026 launch.

For now: You can still earn Joiys by joining activities and receiving them from other participants (Share Love, organizer tips). The appreciation economy is already working—payments will just make it easier to participate. Learn more about how Joiyin works and download the app to get started.

Better Activity Discovery

We’ve improved how you find activities that matter to you.

What’s new:

  • Improved activity cards – Better preview information helps you decide faster
  • Enhanced filtering – Filter by activity type, distance, time, and participant count more easily

The goal: spend less time hunting, more time deciding to go.

Accessibility Improvements

We’ve made Joiyin more accessible for everyone.

What’s improved:

  • Screen reader support – Better labeling and descriptions throughout the app
  • Keyboard navigation – Improved keyboard shortcuts and navigation flow
  • Color contrast – Enhanced contrast ratios for better readability
  • Text sizing – Better support for system text size preferences

More people should be able to use the app comfortably — full stop.

Localization Updates

We’ve continued expanding language support.

What’s new:

  • Additional translations – More strings translated across the app
  • Regional improvements – Better date/time formatting for different locales
  • Currency support – Preparing for multi-currency support in Joiys payments

Joiyin now supports 8 languages with comprehensive translations: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Ukrainian, Swedish, and Dutch.

Behind the Scenes: Infrastructure

You won’t see these, but they’re important.

What we built:

  • Improved error tracking – Better monitoring helps us catch and fix issues faster
  • Database optimizations – Faster queries and better scalability
  • API improvements – More efficient endpoints reduce server load
  • Security enhancements – Additional safeguards for user data and privacy

We’re building infrastructure that scales as the community grows.
