November was all about trust. We shipped features that reward reliability, make inviting friends effortless, and help you discover activities more naturally. Here’s what’s new.
Invite Friends with QR Codes
Every activity now has a QR code. Tap Share → Show QR Code and let someone scan it—they’re instantly invited.
Handy when someone at the table wants to join on the spot — coffee shops, parks, anywhere you’re already gathered.
Attendance Check-In: Proof of Presence
The big one this month. We’ve added attendance check-ins so participants can confirm they showed up.
How it works: When an activity starts, a “Check In” button appears. Tap it when you arrive to log your attendance.
For participants: Check-ins feed into your trust score. The more activities you attend consistently, the more other users know you’re reliable.
For organizers: You’ll see who checked in, building a clearer picture of who shows up. Over time, this helps the entire community make better decisions about participation.
This is how we’re building accountability without surveillance—through actions, not assumptions.
Invite Points: Rewarding Community Growth
Invite someone to Joiyin, and when they join an activity, you earn trust points.
The protections: We’ve built anti-gaming safeguards. Daily caps, pattern detection, and suspicious activity flags keep the system fair. We want genuine community builders, not spammers. Trust scores should mean something when they’re earned honestly.
Map Improvements: Dark Mode and Smarter Filtering
Small changes, big impact.
What’s new:
- Dark mode map tiles – The map now respects your theme preference. No more blinding white tiles at night.
- Distance-based filtering – Activities filter within your 3km organic discovery radius, reducing clutter.
- Map position persistence – Pan around, apply filters, and your position stays locked. No more frustrating resets.
Browsing the map should feel smooth, not annoying.
Choose Your Distance Units
Go to your profile settings and pick kilometers or miles. All distances update instantly.
Because nobody should do mental math while planning their day.
Richer Notifications
We’ve expanded the notification system to keep you informed without overwhelming you.
What’s new:
- Attendance check-in alerts for organizers
- New participant join notifications
- Activity detail change updates
- Invite confirmation messages
Enough to stay informed without living in the notification tray.
Better Localization
We’ve added 50+ new translated strings across all the features above. Joiyin now supports attendance check-ins, invite points, and QR sharing in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Ukrainian, Swedish, and Dutch (8 languages total).
A global community deserves a globally accessible app.
Behind the Scenes: Security and Infrastructure
You won’t see these, but they matter.
What we built:
- Age verification framework (ready for regulatory requirements)
- Enhanced error handling and network connectivity checks
- Transaction audit trails for trust system integrity
- Anti-gaming safeguards to prevent trust score manipulation
We’re building infrastructure for long-term safety and fairness as the platform grows.
What’s Next
Joiys web payments are coming soon. You’ll be able to purchase Joiys credits directly on the web with Stripe to boost activities and support great organizers. Mobile in-app purchases will follow.
We’re also exploring personalized activity feeds—follow cities, tags, and organizers you care about without endless scrolling.
We Want Your Feedback
These features are live now. Try them out and let us know what works (and what doesn’t).
