Joiyin is a social app for posting and joining real-world activities nearby. Coffee, walks, open houses, community booths. It wasn’t built as a dentist marketing product. Still, if your practice already does community outreach, posting those events here is a simple form of local marketing. Free to post, so people near the event can find them.
A note from Anthony Chung (endodontist, Ontario)
I built Joiyin as a general activities app for people who want to get out and do things with other people, not as a dentist product. Dentistry has provided for me for many years. This page is me sharing that tool with colleagues. If your practice already runs open houses or community events, you’re welcome to post them here the same way a cafe or a neighbour would. Free to post.
Who this page is for
Mostly whoever already handles your practice’s social posts, community calendar, or front-desk outreach. If you saw this in a journal ad, feel free to pass the link to them.
Dental open house ideas and kids’ day ideas
If you’d put it on Instagram or a waiting-room poster, and people can actually show up, it belongs here.
At the practice
- Saturday open house / meet the team
- Kids’ day or first-visit tour for families
- Oral Health Month or hygiene month Q&A with the hygienist
- A charity or reduced-fee day you already run
- Ask-the-dentist evening (time, place, what to expect: sensitivity, kids’ first visit, sports mouthguards, and so on)
Out in the neighbourhood
Outreach doesn’t have to be at your address. When your team is at a park, school fair, community centre, or charity walk, post the activity at that spot. People browsing nearby can see it even if they never looked up your practice.
Example: “Saturday 10am at [park name]: oral health booth. Come say hi.”
Some practices also post clinic hours for a visit people can attend, or a clearly described event (what, when, where). We don’t put coupon or freebie examples on this page. If you mention fees or offers, that copy has to meet your regulator’s advertising rules.
Staff and colleagues across offices
You can also post a staff event that’s open to people from other practices, and to patients if that fits. A walk after the last patient, coffee near the office, a short team meetup. You’re not inviting one specific office. You’re posting something local that other dental staff (and anyone else you welcome) can find and join.
The September 2026 Ontario Dentist piece on mindfulness (Kelly Fanson) treats social connection outside the practice as part of practitioner well-being, the kind of reset that helps after a long day in the operatory. A staff event like that is one simple form of that. Optional. The main ask here is still posting community events people nearby can find.
How to post
- Open the web app (or download).
- Create an account.
- Post an activity with a time and place.
- Optional: use a boost if you want more visibility. Same tools everyone else can use.
Posting is free. If you want to see the format first, browse what’s already up.
A straight note on reach
Early on, organic browse can be quiet. That’s fair to say up front.
We’re also running regional public awareness (for example local classifieds) so people already looking for a dentist can find practice events posted on Joiyin. Those ads are general: they point at the pool of open houses, meet-the-team visits, and neighbourhood booths, not one named office. If your event is posted when someone browses, they can find it.
Joiyin still works best where people nearby already look. Denser areas like Toronto and the GTA usually see more eyes than a quiet town. Posting here doesn’t guarantee new patients.
Advertising rules
Whatever you post, your practice is responsible for the advertising rules where you are licensed. In Ontario that includes the RCDSO. Other provinces and countries have their own colleges or boards.
